1. About YapBooking
YapBooking (“we”, “us”, “our”) is an online marketplace that connects dog owners (“Customers”) with professional dog-boarding facilities (“Hotels”). The boarding contract is concluded directly between the Customer and the Hotel; YapBooking is not a party to that contract and is not responsible for the services provided by the Hotel.
2. Scope
These Terms govern access to and use of yapbooking.com, including searching for Hotels, making bookings, and communications on the platform. By using YapBooking, you accept these Terms in full.
3. Eligibility
To use YapBooking, you must be at least 18 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into contracts. You undertake to provide truthful, complete, and up-to-date information.
4. Accounts
You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for all activity carried out through your account. In the event of unauthorised access, you must contact contact@yapbooking.com immediately. YapBooking may suspend or close accounts that breach these Terms.
5. Bookings
5.1 Request / Confirmation — When you book, you make an offer to the Hotel. For Verified Hotels (with online payment enabled), the booking is confirmed upon successful payment. For all other Hotels, it is a booking request subject to acceptance: it is confirmed only once the Hotel accepts it and you receive the confirmation email from YapBooking (usually within 24 hours). 5.2 Accuracy of Information — You must provide accurate information about your dog(s) (breed, size, age, health, and vaccination). False or incomplete information may lead to cancellation of the booking without a refund. 5.3 Vaccination Requirements — Hotels may require up-to-date proof of vaccination. You must meet each Hotel's requirements before arrival.
6. Prices and Payments
6.1 Prices — Prices are set by each Hotel, shown in euros (€), and include applicable taxes unless stated otherwise. 6.2 Payment — For Verified Hotels, payments are processed securely through Stripe; by confirming, you authorise the total amount to be charged to the payment method provided. YapBooking never stores full card details. For all other Hotels, there is no online payment through YapBooking — payment is arranged and made directly with the Hotel. 6.3 Service Commission — YapBooking charges Hotels a commission on completed bookings, which is not added to the price shown to Customers.
7. Cancellations and Refunds
7.1 Cancellations by the Customer — Cancellation policies vary by Hotel and are shown on each Hotel's page before confirmation. By booking, you accept the relevant Hotel's policy. 7.2 Refunds — Where payment was processed through the platform (Verified Hotels), any refund due is made by that same means. For bookings paid directly to the Hotel, cancellation and any refund are handled between the Customer and the Hotel. 7.3 Cancellations by the Hotel — If a Hotel cancels a confirmed booking, YapBooking notifies the Customer immediately and helps find an alternative; amounts paid through the platform are refunded in full. 7.4 No-show — In the event of a no-show, the Hotel's cancellation policy applies, and no refund may be due.
8. YapBooking's Role and Liability
YapBooking acts as an intermediary; it does not provide boarding services and does not guarantee the quality, safety, or legality of the Hotels. To the extent permitted by Portuguese law, YapBooking's liability shall not exceed the total commissions paid in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the liability. YapBooking is not responsible for: (a) injury or harm to the dog; (b) loss of property; (c) indirect or consequential damages. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence, or for fraud.
9. Hotel Responsibilities
Hotels are independent third parties, responsible for the accuracy of their listing, for compliance with applicable law (including licensing and animal welfare), and for the care and safety of the dogs during the stay.
10. Prohibited Uses
You undertake not to use YapBooking for unlawful purposes; not to provide false information; not to circumvent the platform by booking directly with Hotels found through YapBooking; and not to interfere with the normal operation of the platform.
11. Ratings and Reviews
The ratings shown on YapBooking come from public Google reviews (“Powered by Google”) and are displayed in aggregate; YapBooking collects user reviews on the platform.
12. Intellectual Property
All content on the YapBooking platform — including the brand, logo, text, design, and software — is the property of YapBooking or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property rights. It may not be reproduced, distributed, or used without prior written authorisation.
13. Privacy
Personal data is processed in accordance with the Privacy Policy, available at yapbooking.com/privacidade.
14. Changes
YapBooking may update these Terms from time to time. Registered users are notified by email of any material changes. Continued use of the platform after the changes take effect constitutes acceptance of them.
15. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by Portuguese law, and the courts of Lisbon shall have jurisdiction. [LEGAL REVIEW: the EU ODR platform (Reg. 524/2013) was discontinued on 20-07-2025 — replace with a current dispute-resolution route.] Customers may turn to a competent consumer-arbitration centre and submit complaints through the Portuguese Electronic Complaints Book (Livro de Reclamações Eletrónico, https://www.livroreclamacoes.pt).
